Unleash your Healing Powers with the S.O.U.L. Technique!
Unravel from the grips of Mindbody Syndrome
Hey there, fellow seekers and wellness warriors! Today, we’re diving again into the magical realms of the mind and body, and sharing a simple yet profound technique for healing MindBody Syndrome (MBS).
It is a technique so powerful that you can become a superhero for your own wellbeing, more specifically for your nervous system. You can see it as an imaginary hug for your heart. Intrigued?
Buckle up because we’re about to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing using the remarkable S.O.U.L. Technique, coined by yours truly. In other words: You’ve got a S.O.U.L.!!
Stop, Observe, Understand, Love.
This technique can be used anytime, anywhere to get curious with any myriad of symptoms or reactions that you may be experiencing – anxiety, pain, depression, panic, fatigue, negative self-talk, resistance, emotional repression.
We are building our mental muscles aka our brain, mind and nervous system (same as we do with physical muscles) by pausing and bringing pure present awareness to the moment. This is crucial in stopping the danger alarm signal (often unconscious and unnecessary) that is going off, which causes the array of symptoms of MindBody Syndrome.
Let’s break the S.O.U.L. down, shall we?
STOP
Pause that whirlwind of reaction – create space to respond rather than react. Hit the brakes on the internal chaos and give yourself permission to take a breather. In this fast-paced world, stopping for a moment may seem counterintuitive, but trust me, it’s the first step towards allowing and creating calmness, that we all need.
OBSERVE
It’s time to channel your inner detective. Are you in real danger in this present moment? Take a good look around – inside and out. What’s going on in that beautiful mind of yours? What sensations are reverberating through your body? No judgment here, just pure observation and get curious.
UNDERSTAND
Now comes the juicy part – Embrace the present situation or sensation with acceptance and feeling. Yes, actually feel it! Yes I know, a bit wild yet it’s crucial. Tune into what is coming up with understanding that it is okay and necessary. Any resistance or judgment or fear creates more panic and pain. Sit in ultimate trust.
LOVE
Last but certainly not least, sprinkle a hefty dose of self-love and self-compassion into the mix. Shower yourself with kindness, forgiveness, and acceptance. This is a human life, we are built for big feelings. We can’t live fully without them – there is no way out, other than through. And loving yourself no matter what is key. It creates safety to your being and nervous system.
Is there a true reason to fight, flight or freeze? Or simply a programmed fear? Are you safe in this present moment?
The true answer is usually yes.
The mind-body connection is undeniable. Emotional and psychological factors play a significant role in pain perception. Exploring our reactions surrounding pain and hardships opens doors to newfound awareness and comprehensive healing.
So there you have it, folks – you’ve got S.O.U.L.!
Everyone has this capacity to stop, observe, understand, and love, in the toughest of times or in the simplest.
It takes some practice to remember to stop and pause, as so many of us are used to reacting unconsciously but you can do it with some practiced awareness and effort. I know you can!
I am a big fan of notes used as reminders. So stick a note to your bathroom mirror or fridge saying S.O.U.L. And the next time you have a killer migraine, or back pain or fatigue or reaction or which have you, you will remember this technique. You then will be well on your way to unleashing your own inner power and taking control of your nervous system, your brain, and your reaction. Thus, creating calm, reassurance, understanding and acceptance, which inevitably helps your chronic symptoms caused by MindBody Syndrome, and your overall wellbeing.
The power is within you. Be patient and consistence. You’ve got this!
Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you for it!
Until next time, I hope you stay hopeful, take time to rest and rejuvenate, have some fun and tune into the innate ability that your mindbody has to heal.
