Hey...

I'm Trace!

I help people who are living with chronic pain and persistent discomfort to achieve long-lasting relief and get back to the life they want… and deserve.

I expect... you’re here because you are SO done with the hamster wheel of chronic pain.

The kind of pain where you wake up most mornings so stiff and depressed, you can barely get out of bed, nor do you necessarily want to, and getting out of the bloody house feels like having to climb Mount Everest.

The kind of persistent symptoms that:

  • Scares the bee-jizzies out of you, wondering if your body will shut down entirely
  • Makes you scared shitless that you will have to live like this for the rest of your life
  • Makes doing ‘easy’ daily activities feel like you’re rolling a square rock up a hill

It sucks. It feels so complicated and lonely.

And… you checked the all the boxes that the medical model has for you – you have been dismissed and judged.

You’ve also sought the many options of the holistic healing world, that everyone says is supposed to work.

I was there too!

When my pain and anxiety were running my life, I tried everything:

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Cranio-sacral
  • Massage
  • Diet change
  • Fasting
  • Medication
  • Mindfulness
  • Specialists
  • Chiropractor
  • Hynopsis
  • Kundalini Yoga
  • Surgery
  • Earthing
relief to chronic pain

Some things helped, temporarily and felt good in the moment but I couldn’t find the long-lasting relief. Nothing was getting to the true culprit, the biggest question – what is causing my symptoms to be chronic? Why the heck won’t they go away?  I always knew the body is meant to heal after all.   Yet my bank account was depleting rapidly.

I believe none of us are getting the

appropriate help that we need to feel better.

I used to cry ALL the time, I was chronically depressed and anxious, yet didn’t even use that language.

I had conditions that doctors said were incurable, including Raynaud’s, fatigue, skin issues, autoimmune.  I was an emotional basket case yet didn’t know what to do or where to turn. My work suffered, my personal life suffered. I felt demoralised, despondent, disappointed. My frustration hit its peak when doctor appointments brought me absolute fear rather than reassurance.

And this is what makes this approach different than anything else.

What you really need is a paradigm shift for how you think about chronic symptoms and pain because in our culture we treat the body and the mind as two completely different entities.

So you have done everything to treat the physical symptoms. And maybe you have done some therapy to handle emotional issues but there is no support out there to bring the two together – that tackle the symptoms that bridge both sides.

I am not saying that this is in your head – your pain is 100% real!

MindBody syndrome

But when we get caught in the cycle of pain and fearing the pain and having anxiety about the causes of the pain – the pain itself becomes worst and the cycle perpetuates itself.

This is what makes symptoms neuro-plastic. And once we understand neuroplasticity and how to apply it to our pain – so many new possibilities open up.

How do we do this?

With a big fancy word like neuroplasticity, it may sound complicated and even daunting, yet it actually isn’t.

First, I will teach you about the pain-brain connection (aka pain neuroscience) to get to the true understanding of your pain. And don’t fret, it’s in a way fun, interactive way that anyone can understand – who doesn’t love a good infographic?!

You see, most of us (myself included as well as many doctors) grew up with a different understanding of pain, that is actually incorrect  – if we have pain, there is a physical cause of the pain ALL the time – this is 100% false.

So, looking solely at the physical symptoms is a massive oversight, hence why so many people don’t find relief.

Contrary to popular belief, you can’t understand pain unless you understand how the brain works. Hence, we are so often barking up the wrong tree.

Incredibly, your brain can create a cycle of pain due to neural pathways that get activated due to stress and emotions –  again this is called Neuro-plastic pain, or MindBody Syndrome.

With your pain or symptoms, your brain is saying, “Look, there’s something amiss, I am trying to get your attention.”

Your brain doesn’t know the difference between a physical injury or emotional turmoil or even that confrontational email you received. With our old reptilian brain, it is ALL interpreted as ‘life-threatening’.

Using Pain Reprocessing Therapies (PRT) you can learn how to your re-wire your brain, and take control of your triggers, stress and fears to create an environment of safety from within, addressing that MindBody Connection at its finest.

WHY I AM SO PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS APPROACH:

  • Almost every chronic symptom is neuro-plastic to some extent due to the fear and stress we all feel – therefore it is possible for most of us to get some relief.
  • It connects the mind and body and shows you how your body is constantly speaking to you – it is smarter than you think.
  • It is evidence-backed by medical studies, medical doctors and psychotherapists who are in the know, and it has proven results.
  • No complex exercises or practices that no one can understand.
  • It gives YOU the power to heal, and not to rely on anyone else.
  • It works!!  I, and thousands of others, have personally experienced long-term relief.

This way to look at chronic pain is quite revolutionary, and it applies to almost everyone experiencing chronic symptoms – all different symptoms, and diagnoses, no matter how long you have suffered.

  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Migraines
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Long Covid
  • Skin Issues
  • Tingling, Burning
  • Facial and Mouth Pain
  • CRPS
  • IBS
  • Pelvic Pain Syndromes
  • Vertigo & Dizziness
  • Chronic Back, neck, Hip pain
  • And many more chronic issues that won’t go away!

Using this Neuro-Plastic MindBody approach..

I have drastically improved my own symptoms.

And I’ve now flipped the coin and have helped dozens of clients break from their chronic pain cycles, and to get back to their life and regain their freedom.

The benefits for me have been life-changing! I am doing the things I love again.

I have so much more confidence and understanding in my body and its healing potential than I did 5 years ago.

I am working again. I founded Innate Wisdom and now helping others. I am feeling energized and happy.

When my symptoms do creep up, I do not fear them. I understand them as my body is actually speaking to me. My body, mind and I are now allies; we have gotten to know each other and now understand one another.

And sometimes even new symptoms come up and that’s okay.

When symptoms arise I know ...

Something is amiss, perhaps I am stressed or overloaded or there is a personal conflict or I am frustrated or repressing some emotions.. it’s all okay. The symptoms come and go.

mindbody syndrome

I realize you’ve probably tried everything, and I don’t want to promise this will be the ‘magic cure’ that makes all of your problems go away (spoiler: that doesn’t exist).

But I can tell you that I wake up with a smile on my face ready to face the world (and myself) with next-to-no pain, with gusto, understanding and compassion… and joy. This is massive for me!! Hence, why I am so passionate about this approach.

Fun facts about me....

  • I live on Vancouver Island, west coast of BC, Canada, where I take advantage of that bohemian, nature-loving lifestyle… a far cry from my reserved (yet sporty) upbringing in the suburbs of Greater Toronto.
  • One of the best bus rides I ever had (and I’ve had my fair share of longggg bus rides) was when I was the only Muzungu (white girl) on a 40hr bus ride through Malawi, Kenya and Tanzania. I sat beside a goat the whole time (and chickens were close by too), and a local man pleasantly took me ‘under his wing’ in the most protective, fatherly kind of way to make sure my journey was safe and that my backpack made it as cargo (more chickens nearly vetoed my bag).
  • After becoming single suddenly after a brutal divorce, I ‘protested’ against expensive Vancouver rent, by living in a very small mini-van for 4 years – all the while, working fancy galas at the 5-star Hyatt hotel, and secretly building straw bale houses in my free time.

LOVE. LISTEN. LEARN. LAUGH. LIVE.

I respectfully and humbly acknowledge that I reside and work in the unceded territory of K’omoks First Nation (Sathloot, Sasitla, Leeksun, Puntledge, Cha’chae, and Tat’poos). Thank you.
